2005 BMW X5 4.4i - Tires

Asked by JTQuest Nov 29, 2017 at 08:35 PM about the 2005 BMW X5 4.4i AWD

Question type: General

According to the car specifications, the following are the
tire sizes, Front 255/50  r19 / Rear 285/45 r19.
I've been told by some retail tire locations that we could put
the same 4 tires on front and rear.   Do you know if that's
possible? We live in the northeast and need all season
tires.

Use the factory recommended tire size. Anything else might damage your drive train or lead to handling issues however I did enter your tire sizes into a calculator and the diameters are within 0.3%. If you still want to change the stock tire size consult with your BMW dealer to be sure.

I have the same issue..did you end up changing the rear wheels or stick to the staggered config?
