Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 very well kept Mercury Grand Marquis V8
Ultimate Edition. Will not start. Newer battery,
always double check interior lights go off. No
lights, clicking, nothing. Dead silence. Batt charger,
nothing. 2016 Equinox tried to jump start. Nothing.
Even let it sit for 3mins thinking it would build.
Nothing. Cleaned terminals. Nothing. Anyone,

A catastrophic failure like this is going to be battery related. Check your battery cable connections at both ends. Make sure they're clean and tight. Also look in the underhood fuse box for a large, MAXI style fuse stamped with the number 100 on it. That'll be the main fuse. If it's blown that'll kill everything. Replace it. If the new fuse blows you have a major short in the electrical system. Possibly a worn positive (+) battery cable that's touching the exhaust manifold. HTH. - Jim

if it is clicking? it is a starter solenoid, or a connection , 90 % of the time,
