Why is my 2001 Durango ticking?

Asked by wnburriss May 11, 2012 at 08:17 AM about the 2001 Dodge Durango SLT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I pulled out of my driveway this morning I heard a loud pop and then my car starting making a
loud, awful ticking sound. What could this be? I recently had the heads replaced.

From what you say most likely exhaust leak. I bet it goes away when you let off of gas and gets louder when you step on gas. They had to remove exhaust manifolds to do heads and they now have a leak. Its not that bad of a job to repair.
