2003 Expedition lower radiator hose replacement

Asked by Jul 06, 2017 at 05:34 PM about the 2003 Ford Expedition XLT FX4 Off-road 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 Expedition with the 5.4 Triton engine. Removed the skid plate  but the
engine end of the lower hose is pretty much inaccessible.  Maybe if I remove
the oil filter I can remove the clamp. Any tips?  No how to's any where on the
web.

I have done mine and it is a pain in the donkey. I removed the oil filter and removed the hose by cutting it off as short as possible which gives you a bit of working room. The factory clamp was in a bad position so I rotated it with a long pry bar and then I was able to get a pair of channel lock pliers on it and removed it and the last bit of hose. I used a new worm drive clamp when installing the new hose and a long 1/4 extension and socket to tighten it up.
