2005 Mustang is leaking antifreeze from the cap (even after replacing the cap)

Asked by curtsconvertible Jul 28, 2020 at 03:31 PM about the 2005 Ford Mustang V6 Premium Convertible RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

In the past few weeks I have twice experienced a bad antifreeze leak. After the
first leak I replaced the cap, and then a few days later the leak happened again.
I checked the cap and it stopped leaking. Any ideas or experience with this
issue? The leak is coming from the cap area.

The level shouldn't be the high to leak out of the cap. Check the coolant level when the car is cold, first thing in the morning, it should be at the min line. If your coolant is rising that far to leak out the cap, that tells me you are overheating.
