This one is only $16....so it may not work if the one they use at the parts place uses, there are many many more...the same site (amazon) has one for $200...more software, and they can go as high as $2500. So before buying one make sure it will work on your car, it's not like a Pontiac Fiero is ll that exotic but that car is a bit 'different'......this is the cheap one $16 must have severe limitations

You can take a look here to compare..it's a really good site: http://autoprosusa.com/best-obd2-scanner-reviews-auto-scan-tool-diagnostic-code-reader This one, from looking at the features it is the highest end scanner a non-professional needs. Will link to laptop, $350 .....From: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search/Code+Readers!s!Scanners/N0664/C0103.oap ....I wouldn't buy from eBay, only because they are used and unknown how it was treated, could have been dropped, banged around, some mechanics don't respect equipment that belongs to the shop

Pep Boy will scan your OBD for free and tell you where the problem is. You can then attack it the old school way - replace parts until it's fixed. Or if the free scan doesn't tell you where to start, then go for the big bucks and get one the scanners available as mentioned above.
