Where is the oil coming from on spark plugs?

Asked by jamesc_c66 Jun 09, 2020 at 01:18 PM about the 2007 Lincoln Town Car Signature Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Received misfire code. Pulled plug to corresponding cylinder and found wet oil all over the plug. changed plugs and was fine for a day then misfire again. No visible signs of oil leakage from valve cover

Either it it coming from bad oil control rings or leaking valve guide seals. Try a hotter spark plug which will help reduce oil fouling. If the guy at the parts counter does not understand tell him you need plugs from a higher heat range. Old timers will know what you mean but the young guys may not.
