Engine rattle or knocking sound

Engine light oil light came on then the rattle or knocking sound parked the car
replaced vvt valve engine light went off sound never went away.  Light came
back on. . What could it be.

Sounds like u may have damaged engine with low oil pressure. U checked oil? Lot of miles on car? Changed oil regularl? Ask couple different mechanics to listen to it see if they say same thing.
