Check the fuel rail there should be like a needle valve on the engin you can hit it there to see if it sprays out if not check fuses and relay first

see if power is getting to the fuel pump and if it has a good ground

Of course nobody likes the location of the fuel pump but there are things you can try before you drain and lower It to the Ground unless you have an access to it through your trunk. As Cody mentioned I would put it back together and perform a couple of tests. First fuel pump is controlled by the computer and there are several parts or sensors that will cause it to be shut off. If it has been working up to this point then it's a good guess it is a fuel pump either just by age or dirty fuel filter causing it to fail before it's time. Look at the fuse box under the hood for fuel pump fuse and there should be a relay close to it. Check fuse pull relay check connections reinsert. Have someone hold their finger on top of relay to see if they feel it click or engage for approximately two seconds when someone turns the key to the accessory position. If no click and you don't hear the pump turn on through the gas fill pipe then it's not getting its voltage to it. You can find the gas pressure port on the fuel rail which looks just like an old R12 AC fitting and depresse to see if there's any pressurized fuel about 45 lbs or a little more. Would recommend you wear goggles and I have a rag close to the port just in case. If no pressure or it just dribbles out then I would recommend disconnecting both cables to the battery for 10 minutes then momentarily connecting positive negative cables together to drain off any excess voltage then reconnecting them to the battery. Then I would try the test again. If you fill and here The click from relay and fuse is good or you replaced then I would check wiring leading back 2 gas tank. Once you access the fuel pump you can test for B+ and momentary ground coming from the computer for it to turn on for 2 seconds when the key is turned to the accessory position. A Volt meter is best for electrical testing to verify proper voltage. OR you can make sure you have voltage going back there from the relay go buy a fuel pump drop the tank stick it in and see what happens and hope for the best. If no relay click then your problem is in the electrical system up front. The crankshaft position sensor Anti-Theft device could be in line with it.
