Question type: General

I know how the 4x4 works in the mountaineer
when not locked and when locked in 4x4. There is
a 4x4 light on dash when i lock it in 4x4 but there is
another light that says 4x4 low. Does it have 4x4
low if so how do i put it in 4x4 low and if it doesnt
why the light.... Just to mock.lol

How is this question related to the airbag icon you have pictured? I have an 06 Mountaineer Premier with the V8 and AWD with the towing option. The AWD is not selective, it is engaged all the time. It sounds like yours allows you to engage or disengage the AWD with some control function. Is that true?

Air bag light has nothing to do but the other ones that are not on do. And the mountaineer is not awd all the time only when the truck feels loss of traction in the rear it sends power to the front. You can also lock it in 4x4 with menu..........

I'll look into the 4x4 lock you describe but I do not believe mine is equipped like this. What drive train do you have? Maybe a different trans was installed in the V6 vs V8 cars.
