why won't my speedometer work?

Just got my truck back today from the shop. Had my 5.7 350 rebuilt. But now my
speedometer doesn't work. The mechanic said he's at a loss. Said he thinks it's digital
because there was no cable running to the transmission.

First check and make sure speed sensor is plugged up,if it was working before the work, may be the mechanic shorted it out when he replaced motor,that said ,check speed sensor
