Truck will not start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 chevy k1500 5.7 it ran just fine for a few months then it started
stalling so I changed the injectors. Got it home just fine then it wouldnt start. I
changed the fuel pump and inline filter and still nothing. So I changed my
mapping sensor and still nothing. Last night I took off the air filter and throttle
body casing and I realized that when the key is turned the injectors work but
when the throttle is is engaged the butterfly valves open but the injectors stop
working.. any idea whats going on?

Check the throttle position sensor. If the computer thinks the throttle is wide open, in this case because of a faulty throttle position sensor, it will go into clear flood mode. In clear flood mode the fuel injectors will spray very little. Also check the coolant temperature sensor and, if equipped, the crankshaft position sensor. A bad coolant temperature sensor can cause a no start condition on an OBD I GM as can a bad crankshaft position sensor because the computer doesn't know that the engine is cranking so the computer won't pulse the fuel injectors. Is the service engine soon light or check engine light on? If so, can you pull the two digit trouble codes from the computer? Hope that helps! Jim
