You bring it in to a shop for a front end alignment and you have these issues? Were I live they check out everything before giving it an alignment. They don't do it unless everything is fixed. The only thing I can think of would be is there is an adjustment screw with a lock nut on top of the steering gear box that needs to be adjusted properly. It almost sounds like where you are taking it, they don't know what they are doing. No way this stuff should be happening.

There are still tie rods and the rag joint (I think this truck still uses one, not 100% sure tho) can be causing play. Power steering pump won't cause play and you shouldn't have to adjust a new box

They couldn't do an alignment until all of that was fixed is what they told me

Didn't know this wasn't fixed. Why did you imply an front end alignment was done? Either have a shop fix your issues, or getter done.
