1997 Chevy c1500 with 5.7 vortec won’t fire off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok so here goes,
I bought this pickup about a month ago and had to have it
pulled home because it wouldn’t start
I have replaced the following parts
Distributor, cap and rotor, coil, ignition module, timing
chain and gears and crankshaft position sensor, fuel
pump and regulator, plugs and wires
It spins over and tries to start some times.
I have made sure it’s on  tdc but still no start, fuel is at
55psi and there is spark but when I try to start it; it acts
like my timing is off. I’ve checked compression and the
cylinders are all at about 150 give or take 5.
I’ve never had any problem with fixing a engine but I don’t
know what I’m doing wrong
Can anyone help me please

That’s what I keep thinking but I reset it on tdc and try to start it but it continues to act like it wants to kick back. Is there anything that I’m missing?????

Before I looked at the answers, I was thinking you put the distributor in 180 degrees off. You are not the first nor will you be the last if that is the issue. If you have not set the distributor to TDC and have to #1 wire setting where it will fire, that do a 180 and see if that helps.

How long will it hold fuel pressure at 55 after turning key back off. If it leaks off pretty quick then it's a fuel problem not a firing problem. Could be in spider injection or fuel pressure regulator in the spider body.
