Help please! My wife took our 94
Roadmaster out for an errand the
other night. She calls me an hour
later, she said she thinks she ran
out of gas, she put ten in the tank
and nothing. While on my way to
her, she got a jump and still
nothing. I then got there and
added another 10 in gas. Checked
all fuses and fuel relay. Plus,
Multiple failed attempts at getting
the car running from jump starts
later' due to the battery being
dead from trying to start it ) we
had to leave the car there over
night. The next day I replaced the
fuel pump , fuel filter and out a
bottle of Lucas ( fuel injecter
cleaner). The car now will idle
until you give it a little gas and
then it stalls.

GM fuel injectors do not like running out of fuel.

Go back and check the work you have done. Make sure that none of the fuel lines are kinked. Get your hands on a fuel pressure gauge and check your pressure ( 60 psi). When you put in the new pump in the hangar are you sure there was an O ring installed where the pump outlet goes into the line out? we had this happen to my daughters car in New mexico. the tech did not put the O ring in square causing a bad seal inside the tank. once the seal was in right the problem went away. Hope this helps.

In addition to DanR63 you may need to drop the tank and clean it out still may have some sediment that got loose when empty and it is restricting the fuel flow enough not to allow for anything above idle. Also as cjrars mentioned the injectors do not do well after this, you may need to take to a mechanic to have them properly cleaned as the require a specific pressure. Not what you want to hear I am sure but that happens when they do not have the lubrication of the fuel.
