Check your fluid levels especially the transmission fluid level. Also would go to the local parts store and get an obd scan. Hopefully it's not a clutch issue with the transmission or a computer malfunction. So could be anything mechanical to electrical at this point till you do more investigation.

How many miles in this car? The transmission has an input clutch assembly that some times go bad and prevent it to engage different gears. Also, there is a forward and reverse band assembly that can fail giving you the described symptoms. All are internal problems and the transmission must be removed to fix them. But first, yes, check the fluid level and also you may want to change it and the filter as well. Scan for codes, as it can be an electrical malfunction.
