Coolant leaking

My 07 Pontiac Gran Prix is leaking coolant and
white smoke coming from the passenger side,
leaking coolant and shooting upwards at the hood,
the check engine light was off and now since the
repairs it's back on from the car running hot, Help
what to do?

And if its running hot there's probably air trapped in the cooling system. There's a bleeder valve near the thermostat that can be used to release the air. If that doesn't work you may need a shop with the proper vacuum equipment to drain and refill it for you. As long as there's air trapped inside it won't cool properly. Very common problem on these cars.
