2007 Subaru - check engine, ABS brake warning lights and cruise light flashing?

Asked by sally Feb 02, 2021 at 09:16 PM about the 2007 Subaru Outback 3.0R L.L.Bean Edition Wagon AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 6 cylinder LL Bean Subaru has been fine, until recently. A few times now
the check engine and ABS brake warning lights came on and the cruise light
was flashing. The engine would barely go and when I turned it off, it was
revving at high speed.  A diagnostic done twice says it needs a new
accelerator pedal wiring and sensor unit.  It's going to be a $500 -$600 job.
Does that sound like a reasonable solution?  I've tried loosening the gas cap
already.

My 2006 outback wagon did the same thing . The codes kept coming back as either throttle position switch or throttle body position switch. I replaced the entire throttle pedal assy. myself . It only has three bolts and a electrical connector holding it in. I'm disabled and I did it in about a half hour for about one fifth of your quote. I got the part from rock auto online.
