What Would Cause The Transmission Downshifts Whenever It Wants To?

Its My Grandad's, The Guy He Got It From Put
Three Different Transmissions In It. He Said If I
Could Fix it I Could Have It. Thought It Might Be
The Passing Linkage Or Something With The
Computer. Any Ideas?

So did you check the kick down linkage? That would be my first thought. So if you take it easy on the gas pedal, not pushing it down very far will it go threw the gears then?

That's What I Thought, But That Model Doesn't Have It. I Haven't Gotten To Drive It Yet. Friday I'm Going To Look At It & See What Happens.

the trans uses the tps and the vehicle speed sensor for trans operation. does the speedo ever go erratic? You can test the tps with an ohm meter, or just replace it. What gears is it downshifting from? and what does it downshift to? or is it just completly random. any kind of info on that will help greatly
