My lovely Honda was just totaled by a tree falling on it...Looking for a Subaru now. I drove a 2006 Forester LL Bean with 149000 miles on it. The car was originally purchased at the same dealership and maintenance done at the same Subaru dealership. It had one owner I was told that it's inevitable that the head gaskets will fail. What do you think?

I agree that the Head gaskets will fail if they were not swapped out before.

Head gaskets are a common failure. I might buy it if I did not drive a lot but budget around 2 grand for the head gasket job and make your offer based on this. Offer even less if the dealer does the job as the price may be more than the car is worth.

my 2005 suburu forester has 53,000 original miles on it and I am the original owner. The car has had its routine services by the dealer since I bought it new. Recently my check engine light and cruise control green light flashing with the AT oil temp coming on after driving over 50 mph. 2006 suburu forester. finally got it to crank up but now it will not stay running but a few seconds and cut off. it will die asap if i touch the gas. ive had lots of trouble with this subi. to get a lil history on it look at other questions and answers i have asked on same car. it had not been run in about six to seven months. was a no spark situation but i figured that out. now this. any answers yall? 1 Answer

My "new" 2006 first bought in Nov. '05 by an older lady now has 51,000 miles. By Subaru''s own schedule it was due for new timing belt after 105 months in the Fall of 2014. Now a few days from 2019 isn't it darn near urgent to replace it. and shouldn't the dealer have mentioned that likely $1200 plus bill coming due?? 4 Answers
