my battery light came on.

my cxar cut off  I jumped started. after jump start I drove a half block it stalled,I bought a new battery.sometime while driving the battery lites comes on.this time iwent off .is there a problem with the alternator?

Yes, most likely it is. But before laying money out for a rebuilt one, have it tested. And remember it will only produce the amperage is is 'asked' to, so for a 100 amp alternator will not show 100 amps being put out. Turn on lights, heater fan, rear window defroster and anything and everything to test. That will give you a more accurate test.

Yes. Take it to Autozone and have them test the hot side of the alternator. The volts are probably fluctuating. Voltage regulator may be bad.
