What is wrong?

my 2001 sl1 started but it didn't rev very high, and i had to give it gas to start. i replaced the spark-plugs and the wires and it starts a little better but now when i stop the engine dies unless i give it gas.

That problem used to be the voltage regulator in older cars. But I don't think yours has one. Ask a mechanic what part replaced the voltage regulator in your model and you may find the source of your problem.
