Keep my van started

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had changed the battery in my van and here to
find out it was also the alternator changed and
now it won't stay running unless I have the van
jumped and keep the cables on..once I take the
cables off it dies

That would indicate the alternator is not working. Either it is not installed and wired correctly or the alternator is no good. You need a volt meter to check the battery and alternator.
