Motor loss power and skipping

Asked by Joshua May 14, 2022 at 12:58 AM about the 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 SL 4WD Extended Cab SB

Was washing my motor with truck running had my spray
turned to jet stuck the stream to my alternator trying to wash
the oil off it truck shuts off runs like crap now real sluggish
loss of power too. Changed alternator still doing the same
thing. Can you guys help me out?

As you found out, you never hose down your engine without protecting the wiring and electronics. Let the engine bay dry out, remove as much water as you can. I suspect something else is wet right now, check all wire connectors and fuses

Wait until after dark and run the engine. Look for any sparking or arcing under the hood! You'll be able to see it better in the dark. If you have a distributor cap, remove it and dry it out. Dry out the distributor too. Hope that helps! Jim
