Why wont my Blazer start

Asked by jem41891 Oct 24, 2012 at 08:11 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter and replaced the lower intake gasket, replaced the upper
intake and put in a thermostat now that I got it put all back together when I start it it turns over but it
makes a popping sound out of the exhaust and acts like it has a misfire of out of time. and it won't fire.
What should I do or do you have any suggestions

Check your firing order. the firing order for the 4.3 v6 is 1–6–5–4–3–2

If it's backfiring then it is, in fact, firing. Seems like you may be right about the timing being out. I'd go ahead and check that real quick. Be careful checking the timing on it though some of the pulleys on these chevy's have two separate timing marks (one for the 4.3 and also one for the 2.8). Tried setting my S10 up as if it was a 4.3 once, took me days to figure it out. Good luck.

How did you know where to put the distributor after removing it for the lower intake removal.
