Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I turn the ignition everything lights
up on the dash but It won't crank until I
shift it down to 1 and back up to park a
couple times  or turn the key a certain way.
The shifting light goes on and off
sometimes when you shift. Will a stretched
shifter cable cause this problem.

Sounds like a bad neutral safety switch. The switch is under the dash on the steering column.
