Budget Fix for Rav4?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The excuse pipe snapped on our 2006 Rav4 at a
very lame spot. I was hoping I could maybe use the
connector pictured below and some muffler
cement/tape to reattach the pipe for temporary fix.
Is this a dumb plan?

If you can get the sleeve on and use something like bailing wire to hold the repair tight, it might last a while. But I'd suspect that during installation, that corroded pipe will just disintegrate. Why don't you just drive it as is to a muffler shop and have it done right? I'm sure you could get away with going a few miles that way. After all, look at all the people who've had their catalytic converters stolen and have to run the engine without them.
Once you remove the flange, that's laying on the ground, if you can slide the adapter pipe over both ends I don't see why it wouldn't work for a while. My Father "fixed" a few exhaust systems in his day with Campbell's Soup cans. Jim
