hello their, i have a 1998 chevy tahoe ,so if i set the rotar to the number 1 plug the truck still will not start , but it turns

Help I'm working on a5.7 vortex 1997 suburban it was stumbleing bad found distributer set wrong set it on the 6 arrow and I have spark but wont run

Sounds like you have it set 180 out or on the exhaust stroke, pull the #1 spark plug, turn motor over till cylinder is tdc. Then set cap and distributor, not accurate but close enough to get it running.

I have a 1999 Tahoe ls 4x4 with the 5.7 I have been trying to set the timing on the distributor I have a class 2 scanner and it reads anywhere from 20.0 to 26.0 when i rotate cant seem to get it to 0 or even close to 4 any help would be awesome

MAP SENSER IS OUT TURNS BUT NO FIRE CUS THE MAP CONPONT CONTROLS THE FIRE

In order to set the timing on any of the vortec 350(5.7) engines you must know the timing sequence and they all must be perfect to run right or it will pop and spit or backfire...the firing order is still 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 and if 1 or 6 is crossed up it absolutely will not run and also if its not on the compression stroke it won't run right either
