why do i have to hotwire fuel pump

the fuel pump is working just not gettting power checked relays the relays are new could one of them be fauty

note the diagram. I don't understand, "the fuel pump is working just not getting power"? To me, power is voltage, how can it work w/o voltage and ground? Note the relay in diagram, unplug the relay, use jumper wire between cavities 30 and 87, the pump should run. As you can see, one of those cavities is voltage, fuse protected, and hot all the time. You don't need to use the key, just for testing. Also, note the oil pressure switch in parallel with fuel pump relay. Once you crank it enough to build oil pressure and that switch closes, the pump will run, even with relay unplugged. The relay and oil pressure switch, both, gets voltage from the same fuse. At the pump, gray wire is voltage, black wire with white tracer is ground, you need both voltage and ground. good luck
