Is my transmission connected to the transaxle?

I was told I need my transaxle  needs to be
replaced but because I have fwd the transmission
and transaxle are all connected and the whole
thing needs to be replaced. Is that correct

The transaxle and transmission are the same thing or unit if you have FWD. Are you referring to the transfer case?
