Audi Q7 Battery Information won't upload

Asked by Jedbod Jan 06, 2024 at 02:32 PM about the 2007 Audi Q7 4.2 quattro AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the battery and tried to code the new battery with a scanner i bought off Amazon (Vag option).  The scanner said it couldn't upload the info.  I took it to the local repair shop and they tried 5 different scanners to code the battery.  They said to take it to the dealer and see why the computer isn't taking the code.  Anyone have this problem?  I can read the diagnostic codes, and reset them just fine.  Only problem is the battery coding.

That is why you use a memory saver tool. So yes you are stuck with the dealer to get it re-coded.

Cars like Audi & BMW require special batteries, not just the bargain units you get at a parts store. Only those will be accepted by their computers. So, have the dealer install one of their batteries and you'll be good-2-go. You'll just be a bit poorer for it.
