2004 Buick rainier cxl 87k random stall out on a hot summer day

Asked by Matt Jun 20, 2016 at 07:45 PM about the 2004 Buick Rainier CXL AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello all,

Not a genius when it comes to cars/SUVs but, while
I was stopped at a red light today my rainier stalled
out and the dash read "low oil pressure". I through it
into park and it restarted just fine. Have been
keeping an eye on the oil gauge and has been
showing at 40 consistently. Checked the oil level
and all seems good there. It was a high of 95
degrees where I'm at today, hottest day this year so
far, if that has anything to do with it (local mechanic
mentioned that could be the culprit where as they
received many calls through the day for random car
troubles).

I plan to take it in Wednesday. If anyone here has a
clue of what's going on I would appreciate it. I have
done quite a bit of research, but it's all over the map
of what it could be.

Thanks

Mine did this. I googled for help and changing the oil pressure switch sensor fixed it completely!
