i have thick gooey in my radiator overflow

I took my car 97 camaro to get oil changed and they told me they recommended synthetic oil and then when done recommended i take it in for service. That my radiator overflow had some thick gooey stuff in it. They showed me on paper towel. I was wanting to know what your thoughts are and do u think that by flushing it and changing thermostat and putting new antifreeze in it would solve the problem or u think i should take in shop?

If it's grey gooey stuff, you have engine oil leaking into the coolant. Possible causes for that would include leaking headgasket, cracked cylinder block, etc.

When was the last time you flushed your antifreeze? I would flush all of it and see if it returns. Pull the dipstick to check your oil...if it is foamy you have antifreeze mixed in with your oil...cracked head or bad head gasket.
