WHAT AM I DOING WRONG NO CRUISE LIGHT OR NOTHING. AM I MISSING SOMETHING SIMPLE?

Press the button on the dash to on, go to desired speed and twist stalk knob to set. Twist to accel to go faster, coast to slower. Either tap the brakes or press the switch again to turn off. Also on a side note a great site to check out is: miata.net
