Air condition. Where does the Freon go!

Asked by sonjef Aug 02, 2012 at 11:33 PM about the 2001 Volkswagen Beetle GLS 2.0

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 VW Beetle. It blows air out fine. When the AC is on it is not cold air. Does it need Freon or is it something else? Also where does the Freon go?

look for the low side of the lines. the nozzle only will fit one side on the manifold gages. Usually the ac lines run on the left of the engine near the fender to the fire wall and will be 1/4" silvery lines. Two ports will be in line, one on low side and the other on the high. Unscrew the cap. Sometimes the vacuum line is worn out. May need to find a Haynes book on the VW or Chiltons book. May learn some from looking on Youtube.
