The light switch in my 1996 WV Jetta won't turn all the way. The lights work when i hold the switch in place but when I let go it goes back to off. What is going on?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently after washing my 96 Jetta I noticed that my light switch wouldn't stay
in the on position. I turn it but it won't click into place. The lights themselves will
turn on when I hold the button in the on position but go off as soon as I let the
button go. I'd rather not drive around at night having to hold the button while
driving stick. Any help would be appreciated.

Visit your local mechanic. The spring in your light switch is probably no longer usable.
