How to replace seat backrest brake in 1999 vow cabrio?

Asked by Eknlawrence Jun 19, 2012 at 08:47 PM about the 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio 2 Dr GL Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The seat back adjustment knob on my vow cabrio keeps falling off.  Appears to have a broken clip.  But now seat
back reclines when anyone sits in passenger seat.  Appears that the adjustment knob acts as a brakes.   How do I
repair this?

you will need to remove the seat and disassemble the back rest and replace it ,or what I have done in the past is to get the seat in a spot that's comfortable and weld it up( please note that the foam and upholstery MUST be removed before doing this) fairly common on the older VW,s
