I bought this car a few months ago and I've
been trying to figure out why it keeps
cutting out at 4000 rpm it idles good but
when you hit 4000 going up hill it looses all
power and have to keep it under 10 mph

that is an old car and they are not the most reliable at that age- I don't think I would buy one- but, whatever, you got it now, and anything short of a complete restoration- will keep you in the shop- for now, check the catalytic converter and the fuel injection-

I am having the same exact problem on my 98 cabrio. It idles well (may smell a little rich) and revs up fine until 4000RPM then drops to idle. It also cant exceed 200rpm under load - i.e under 10mph. I had the entire exhaust replaced before this occured. I was told it could a negative ground terminal so I tightened by terminals which were loose and it ran fine for a little while then back to the same symptoms. I since replaced the ground terminal but no change. Any thoughts?
