2005 Z4 obd port not working any ideas?

Asked by David Feb 22, 2016 at 07:04 AM about the 2005 BMW Z4 2.5i Roadster RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2005 BMW Z4 has issues with me connecting to the OBD port I get communication failure. Have tried other readers and no luck. I know the readers work due to connecting them to other vehicles in the same parking lot. Any ideas. I don't seem to have a port under the hood either.

You probably have no power to the ALDL port. Usually the power is tied into some other circuit for power like a cigarette lighter or something. I you have something not working in the car, get her fixed and then there should be power for the meter, (scanner)
