I have a BMW Z4 3.0 with a SMG Box. Does anybody know what it means when the Position indicator window on the Dash witch normally shows R N 1 D. It now shows FN or FW difficult to make out. And gear lever is locked. Has anyone any ideas apart from change to manual

Thanks for the Histoty of the SMG Box I have been a Mechanic for 40 yrs worked on BMs quite a lot first time I have come across this Box know the workings have all the Code Readers but No where does it mention the Symbol FN ,I am trying to find out what has caused it to come on and Why. Thanks for the Reply
