How doI Manually Raise or Lower my Convertible top?

Asked by AZBlondo Sep 04, 2007 at 07:09 PM about the 1998 BMW M3 Convertible RWD

Question type: General

I have a '98 convertible M3, it did not come with an owners manual when I purchased it.  A few nights ago the motor for the top failed with the top halfway down.  I wanted to know if someone could tell me how to manually lower or raise the top so I can drive it to the shop.  Thank you.

you will fine a a release lever under the rear seat. There is also a disengage release on the motor in the trunk. Once those are tripped you can manually raise and lower the top. You should be able to source an owners manual at the BMW dealer.
