CAN'T GET HARD TOP TO UNLOCK

HARD TOP IS NOW ON WITH THE RED LIGHT LITE. WOULD LIKE TO TAKE HARD
TOP OFF AND USE AS A CONVERTIBLE OR DRIVE WITH THE SOFT TOP UP

give it a slap on the roof where it locks into the windscreen. From what I've read there's a sensor or switch or something where the foof pin locks and they sometimes stop making contact, telling the car that the roof isn't secured.

Unfortunately, when this happened to mine it resulted in a costly replacement of the front hydraulics. Hope yours is something less costly.

    I have the key however with the battery dead I can't get into the trunk to pull out the battery. The key is old fashioned - no "secondary key" .
