Mike, My name is Mike also, it sounds like the aam ( all activities module). I have a 01 ml320 and I hooked up an aftermarket amp and kicker box as well as new brakes and sensors and the computer on board could not read the new equipment so my mechanic changed out the aam and it started right up....check with the stealership 1st because there maybe a RECALL on the aam.....

I also have a ML320. The problem with starting could also be not enough power in the battery. If you check your user manual it states clearly in there that cold weather will drain power from the battery. I have had to charge my battery 3 times now and the battery is only 4 months old. This is very common.
