I found driver & passenger carpets wet almost all the time.

your vans door sills and floors are most likely rotten and are letting water in keeping the floors wet at a constant time. it is very common for these vans to rot away to nothing, literally everywhere on them rusts out. rockers are the worst for rotting out on these vans. to be honest at this point it is probably too far gone and time to just get a new vehicle

Old antifreeze has a hint of fish in its scent. If you have he dual heating then you have coolant lines running from front to mid/rear of the vehicle.
