Head gasket job, crank kit as well. Check engine light was flashing. Diagnostic at parts store said misfire #3
cylinder. I've been told most likely coil. Is that most likely problem?

remove #3 plug and replace. reset code and see if the light comes on again. possibly cracked plug in repair process.
simple way to check, is to take cylinder #3s coil, and move it, and if the misfire follows its that coil.
