Grinding noise

Asked by Sheena Jul 16, 2018 at 06:31 PM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drive a 2001 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.2 engine 4wd. I just
change my brakes. when I drive and come to a stop i hear
grinding noise and feel it under my feet while driving.
Sounds like when u put the two brake pads together and
rub it makes that sound and happens everytime I use my
brake coming to a stop and if I drive slowly and come to a
slow stop there is no noise. What could it be?

Who did your brake job ? Would take back to them and have them recheck them.

I check my brakes there fine and I did them. I pull all my drivers wheel side if and took it apart. Before my brake change. I had my whole front differential, axle and wheel bearing included replace. I check the brakes that I change and it's not it. But discovered my u joints and are broke. So I need the whole driver side replace. But i don't know how much that would cost in total.

prolly u-joints...however, if you have 4 wheel ABS, it's also possible you're brakes mite be pulsing cause of ABS wheel sensor problems or improper bleed technique.

Yeah it's the u joints. And while I'm at it ill replace the hub to. Thank you firebird338 and jetjurnigan for the response.

Any more information on this, my 98 Dodge Ram 1500 is doing the same thing you described, vibration in the pedal, mostly grinds and squeals when accelerating, but also will do it when braking, not near as bad though. Any info would be appreciated!
