Can I get away with just draining and replacing fluid

Girlfriend accidentally out lightweight
motor oil in transmission, hasn't been
started can we just drain the tranny
and refill with new. It was a quart or
less of the light motor oil.

Engine oil in an automatic transmission? I would probably change the fluid, refill with the correct stuff and then drain and refill again.
