I changed the fuel pump on my 97 dodge ram 1500. Ran great for 2 days then stopped running. I can hear pump working, replaced fuel system relay, engine turns over but does not start? Any suggestions?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I think part of the problem is that after I replace the fuel pump on my dads truck he came from behind me &
reused the gas that we had siphoned out of the tank. The fuel containers had dirt, cardboard looking stuff, grass
etc. Truck drove great for two days that's when he told me what he did! I put in carb cleaner & fuel cleaner. Truck
started but only around the block then died. Engine does turnover but truck won't start? WHAT ELSE CAN I DO???

yes, the new fuel pump assembly came with a new filter. Amt of fuel he poured back in was approx 5-6 gals. This is why I am confused of what it could be because it was running great then just quit! I thank you for helping me figure this out.
