Dome Light stays on- Even when Override switch is turned off

Asked by Nfontana Dec 14, 2013 at 10:15 AM about the 2001 Chevrolet Express 1500 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The dome lights in my 2001 Chev Express 1500 stay on when all the doors are closed, even when the override button is activated.

The only way to turn off the lights is to pull the fuse. I had a mechanic (supposedly) check the switch and the door pins. He said he believes it may be the Body Control Module. When I contacted auto places to buy the BCM, I have been given conflicting information stating the BCM in that year only controls the air bags.

I do not want to just replace parts and hope for the best. I am looking for real answers.

Have you checked your dimmer switch? If toggled all the way(brightest dash light setting) on some models this turns the dome light on till switch is toggled to a lower dash light setting.

I am having the same issue, I unplugged the connector on the back of the switch and they still are on. Only way I got my to turn off thus far is pull the bulbs. Only ground switch is on the middle doors, clean and goes in and out. Unplugged and still on.... any suggestions??
