Chevy S10 issue

Asked by Fishingfool89 Jul 06, 2016 at 08:46 PM about the 1998 Chevrolet S-10 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The other day driving home I noticed that
my truck was running a little hot and
smoking from the engine I pulled over and
had the truck towed home. Once I got
home I noticed that my water pump was
leaking from the weep hole on the bottom
so I replaced it and now the truck will turn
over but won't start. I can get it to start if I
pump the gas pedal. What would have
caused it to go from running good to it not
starting?

I got it running now it must have just been wet like you said now the scary thing is that the second I turn the truck on it starts making a bubbling noise from around the side engine coolant container I'm figuring it has air in it from changing the water pump I just don't now how to purge it.

Sounds like head gasket, if air was in the system it won't come from the resivoir until the system become pressurized. That happens after several minutes when it gets up to temp. Not just after starting.
